Rural transit agencies: Apply now for the 2016 FTA Administrator's Award for Outstanding Public Service. The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) invites nominations from rural transit systems to be considered for the 2016 FTA Administrator's award for Outstanding Public Service in Rural Public Transportation. The awards will be presented at the 22nd National Rural Public and Intercity Bus Transportation conference, in Asheville, NC on October 2-5, 2016.
Who is Eligible?
Any local rural transit provider receiving assistance under FTA's Formula Grants for Rural Areas (Section 5311) may be nominated for the award. FTA will accept self-nominations, but encourages letters of support from the State transit association and/or State Departments of Transportation. Nominations will be based on rural transit providers that have improved the mobility of Americans in rural areas, providing them better access to employment, health care, and other community services.
Award recipients will be expected to attend the National Conference, where they will be honored and will have an opportunity to share the secrets of their success with other conference attendees.

Letters of support and marketing materials may be attached.
Send five copies of the nomination and supporting material to your regional office by May 15, 2016 clearly marked AWARD NOMINATION.
The awardees will be notified by July 15, 2016.
